There hasn't been a bar raise, MGS4 and GTA4 were flawless in every regard that mattered, yes GTA4 as well, all the complaints about that game are completely subjective. LBP still would't have gotten a ten because it has issues, however tiny they may be. This is exactly why the review scores are not consistent. WE HAVE NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD!QFT! I so nearly typed almost the same thing about an hour ago but couldn't be bothered. On a side, but related note - to everyone who comes on here complaining about how certain games suck because of tiny textures and slight screen tears, just face one simple fact about gaming. But we are in an era of games where quality is constantly being imrpoved, and the bar constantly going up. Had LBP dropped 1 year ago, it would have 10s everywhere. Perfect game scores raise the bar for every other game to follow. But if MGS4 had come out before GTA IV, it is a bolted on guarantee that GTA IV would be languishing with 8s and 7s for review scores. This is how it has always worked in game reviews.įor example - GTA IV may not have deserved all of the mag-gasmıc 10s it got, but MGS4 certainly did. Whenever a game gets a 10, the bar is then raised for all subsequent games that follow it. I would like to point out something regarding review scores that may have been overlooked.
